Welcome To The Grimoire

Just like an architect helps define both structure and aesthetics, I’ve learned the skills needed to give structure and beauty to digital experiences! My passion is mobile experiences (especially Android and open source) and I believe that the best way to define an experience is to simplify it down to its core parts. Mobile devices are really good at helping in this distillation process because of the smaller size they often take on. I find that designing with these smaller devices first initiates deeper critical thinking about how all the pieces fit together.

I focus on asking questions and sharing visual assets to communicate what’s in my mind and to understand other people’s ideas and perspectives. I’ve noticed that even if the visual isn’t what people want, it still helps move the conversation along to identify what the possibilities we do want are. Through multiple conversations and refinement of the visual assets, our shared understanding and vision materialize and all the pieces we gathered begin to fit together to form something beautiful.

I’m passionate about how life is the ultimate design experience. There’s so many exciting possible directions we can take not only our individual lives, but also larger communities and our entire world! Too many of the systems we’ve created are fragile and haven’t been designed well and there’s so much to learn. I’m always looking for ways to keep evolving, creating systems and breaking them, and challenging my current ideas, beliefs, behaviors, and more. I love helping other people with these pursuits, but I try to focus on my experience primarily since there’s a lot outside of my control and influence.
