Yesterday a cute little gecko jumped into my life. 🥰

It was one of the more unexpected things that’s happened to me. I was folding laundry and picked up my boyfriends shorts and zip! Like lightning I couldn’t believe that (what I thought was a lizard) had just jumped out! 😂 I was stunned for a few seconds and didn’t know if it had actually happened. I’ve seen bugs in houses, but lizards?? Also, how did it get up to our 7th story apartment? 🤯

But there I was. I told my boyfriend and he came into the room to check with me. And sure enough the little guy scrambled around a box to hide. 🫥

It was honestly super cute and I still couldn’t believe this was happening. I grabbed a small glass jar and successfully nabbed it!! 🎉 Without hurting it too. 💪

I didn’t know what to do and we debated letting it go but I was like 🤩 this is so magical and cute and I’m not sure I want to let them go! Especially when I noticed their little cute feet looked like gecko feet! I’ve always thought geckos are adorable! 😍

So then we started researching what it could be and I used Google Lens to find a match. It’s literally called a house gecko! 😳 I guess they really like living in homes in tropical areas and they’re really common. So cute! So then I was like, how could I care for this critter? Do I even want to? Idk, not really, but 😍 how did this magical thing happen and why would I let it go?? So to start we found a bigger jar and put a couple jade leaves in it that I had.

I still don’t know what to do, but we successfully gathered a few bugs for it last night so that it would have food and put in a few more leaves and bark and stuff and it’s just been cuddling up on a piece of bark all day. Which I think is freakin adorable!I

Imagine what a strange (and maybe magical, maybe terrifying) journey this little gecko has been on. I was saying last night that it’s pretty amazing that no other gecko has had this same experience! They’re so special! Like we brought them to catch bugs with us and they were just flying through the air inside their glass jar and looking out the sides so curiously. 😂

It’s been so fun and cute and really special. I’m really happy they jumped into my life. 😁
