Super cozy keyboard time!! I’ve been doing research on and off for probably about a year at this point trying to understand more about keyboards so that I can find one that I really like! This post is the first one where I’m using my new keyboard to type on. ๐Ÿ˜ The sound of it \is just so cozy and the lighting effects they have are so beautiful! ๐Ÿคฉ The one I have currently set is so cool cuz it lights up each key you tap individually and the effect is so satisfying and kinda magical.

I knew that I really loved low profile keyboards and didn’t like how so many people in the community wanted keyboards with such big keys. I guess some people do like it but for me it definitely doesn’t work. My favorite keyboard of all time is possibly still the Pixel Slate keyboard โœจ that thing was such a beautiful thing to type on! And the round keys ๐Ÿ˜ so unique, especially for such a slim keyboard like that. Sadly, it wasn’t built to last and I went through 2 of them in only a couple of years. But, I like the simplicity of keyboards like that. Sadly, they’re not easy to come by. I guess they’re called membrane keyboards if I’m remembering correctly and they’re pretty expensive which is why they’re usually only seen on mass produced devices like tablets where big corporations can make a lot of them and pay a large budget for them.

So that was one key thing that I wanted to remember as I searched for keyboards, something thin and low profile. Thankfully I started to hear about quite a few really nice mechanical keyboards in the low profile category. None of them are nearly as thin as something like the Pixel Slate keyboard, but still pretty cool and way better than a standard mechanical keyboard.

I also figured out that I really like a specific sound and feel by testing out some keyboards in person. But I didn’t know what it was called or how to find similar keyboards. It took me a bit to figure out that I really like the sounds and feel of linear switches. It’s just so cozy and pleasant sounding, like rain drops falling and it feels so nice too. Not hard or deep, cozy really is the best word I like to use. Once I had a name for it I was so happy cuz I knew that I could find keyboards that were both low profile and had linear switches and i could also look them up on Youtube to hear what they sounded like.

Some other criteria I had for the kayboard was that it needed to have a design that I enjoyed and matched my current vibe. It also needed to have bluetooth connectivity and USB C for recharging. None of those swappable batteries that you have to keep in stock. ๐Ÿ˜‘ It also needed to work with Android cuz that’s my primary computer. The pocket computer!! โšกโšก

Ya see, I’m building up to something really cool I hope! Something of a really minimal and modular digital system that I can evolve with and bring with me across all the different parts of my life. I believe that Android is the heart of that system! Cuz with and Android pocket computer I can bring it with me wherever I go and it keeps track of all the core details I need. I can take photos with an incredible camera setup, I can find things with maps, get rides to places, contact people, and do everything much more seamlessly than I can on a traditional computer. I can tap and swipe and interact however I want!

The pieces that are missing to this incredibly beautiful, flexible and minimal tech setup is being able to draw, sketch, write, and plug in at home for tasks that need a bit more dedicated focus time at a desk and with a larger screen. Honestly it makes me so excited to think about! Why would I have 3 or 4 or however many computers when my pocket computer could flex and change to fit all my needs wherever I am! It makes me so happy to think about! ๐Ÿ˜But, those missing pieces are in the works. Tri fold devices just got announced and folding pocket computers are getting pretty dang good overall. They need more universal stylus support so that whether at home or out and about I can just whip out my pocket computer, unfold, and start drawing with my absolute favorite app Concepts! Even more, Google is working on finally improving the desktop experience for Android so that the third piece of the puzzle can finally fit into place! The home piece! Once there’s a dedicated desktop experience I can plug in at home for a really large screen experience and get done some of the tasks that, imo, people are dragging their feet to innovate. Things like design, website building, or coding if I want. I mean there’s still a gap for apps to step up in the Android ecosystem, but I’m positive we’ll get there! I do wish sometimes that we would make it easier for those kinds of tasks to be done on the go, but I’m satisfied with having a home computer experience for now.

Now that I’ve been on a bit of tangent, time for the great reveal! Which keyboard did I get to start my home computing journey and fancy keyboard journey??

Honestly, it’s so freaking beautiful and so satisfying to type on cuz that cozy sound and feeling! The retro vibes, cream color, the orange accents, the packaging and all the little extra details. So nice! Is it a bit taller than I would like? A bit, yeah. But I’m satisfied for now and really enjoying this new kind of experience. It’s so cool that I’m  typing this whole post on my pocket computer through Bluetooth and that pieces of my dreams are beginning to come together!! Sometimes I feel like the keys are still too deep even though it is a low profile keyboard and they’re decently thin.

But we’ll see where this journey goes, it’s definitely the start of something new for me and I like it so far! Listen to how cozy it sounds! ๐Ÿ˜ป๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ
