It’s been a week since the first hurricane of my life hit. Hurricane Beryl. There’s still hundreds of thousands of people without power and it’s difficult to believe. For this city being as large as it is and for having been through many similar storms in the past, it didn’t feel like they were very prepared or that they’ve been able to recover well and it doesn’t really make sense.

It was definitely one of the most intense storms I’ve been in and I did think for a bit that maybe I could die or that my apartment windows could shatter at any moment. There was much more leaking in my apartment than I expected as well.

It’s also difficult to believe that there’s any nature left after such a horrible storm. So many trees and other plants were ripped apart or entirely uprooted and idk how any animals survived! 😵 Pretty incredible if you ask me, they’re resilient out here I guess.
